Renal Diet

They need some advice regarding early renal and kidney failure in a flat coat?
My stepfather was an old 10 years old Flat Coat Retriever (dog guide to retirement) and it is said that the dog is in renal and kidney failure. His regular veterinarian retired but the vet put the dog new science Hills k / d diet, but the dog refuses to eat it and it seemed very miserable. He will eat anything else and the food he used to have but the vet said that if he returns to his other food, it will very quickly downhill. Surely there is a drug that the dog can go to help slow the disease down? Any help or suggestions veterinarians who know geniune what they speak or any dog owners who have experienced this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Missy I lost my kidney. She showed no early symptoms of chronic, unfortunately it was before we knew. She did not touch Science Diet Stuff or anything else we've tried. It needs very expensive treatment fluid that we kept for 2 1 / 2 months at a cost of about $ 4,500. We could continue, but they stopped to help. She started having seizures and was starving to death as she did not eat. Ultimately we did the only thing we could humanely and let her go. No way I let her suffer. Im sure your father in law will be the same way. During this 2 1 / 2 months, I slept on the floor with her at night. For some reason, it would be terribly sick the night, even if it had heardly ate. She would get so scared I would not leave her alone. Since I learned from my new vet and a lot better than the stadium was Missy treatments were never walk more than a few days. The vet other kept leading us to say that we could give more than a year or two before needing more. Of course, we clung to sprinkles and continued to do so. Now, I do not think he really just taking us for money. I suppose at least we have that 2 1 / 2 months, but for her, they were not the best but not terrible. Try illustrations of animals group suggested. Everything is worth trying. They may some suggestions for you. I will pray for your father in laws dog. For him, too. This is not easy. There is no cure, just sometimes, you can buy a little time. Just make sure the time is the type bought quality, not just quantity. I am not a veterinarian, but I've been where you are now.
